			Scott Klarman - Master of Smooth Jazz Smooth Jazz is an outgrowth of fusion, one that emphasizes its polished side. Generally, smooth jazz relies on rhythms and grooves instead of improvisation. There are layers of synthesizers, lite funk rhythms, lite-funk bass, and either trumpets, alto, or soprano saxophones. The music isn't cerebral, like hard bop, nor is it gritty and funky like soul-jazz or groove. It is unobtrusive, slick, and highly polished, where the overall sound matters more than the individual. 			Bruce Green's Band Bruce Green and the boys are quite simply jazzy music for all occasions - Led by the recent U of M award winner for best reed (sax) player, the band plays modern, traditional, mainstream jazz with a little blues and rock and roll to make your event go with a swing! Bruce's band plays the traditional jazz format of the great Ellington, Basie and Goodman bands in the 1930s. The band's repertoire has included classic jazz pieces by such composers as Duke Ellington as well as modern jazz works by Thad Jones, Herbie Hancock, Bob Minzer and Toshiko Akiyoshi. Once each year the band focuses in concert on the music of a jazz legend. Miles Davis, Charles Mingus and Thelonious Monk have been the subjects of these tributes.

			The Vanguard The Vanguard are the 'premier' traditional swing and jazz band in South Florida. They have over four hours of repertoire from memory. Having performed in Miami's top hotels and country clubs and even entertained the most discerning of audiences with a jazz gig at the Rainbow Room in Manahattan. The Vanguard has just celebrated 10 years in the business, starting at the University of Miami and have traveled the world, performing extensively in the UK, Europe and Australia.
